Those in attendance have completed a foundational workshop and agree to work together in building an antiracist community using antiracist principles put forth.
This group is designed for people in senior leadership in their organizations, particularly executive directors and their senior leadership teams, who have substantial decision-making authority and are invested in nurturing the organizations they lead to become more equitable, just, and anti-racist institutions. What: We are a multi-racial anti-racist community. We meet to discuss anti-racist awareness, research, vision, and action in our lives and in Bridgeport. We define anti-racism as the practice of rejecting, resisting, undoing, interrupting and challenging bias and racist ideas, systems, and hierarchies, both internally and externally.
WARE is a network of white educators in independent schools whose goals are to deepen our understanding of white racial identity, white privilege, and white cultural dominance in our institutions. Social Workers Against Solitary Confinement, is a national coalition of social workers and concerned allies, who seek to abolish the torturous practice of solitary confinement in our nation's jails and prisons. Our efforts are focused on raising awareness about this practice, which we do through seminars, conferences, videos, articles and through our newsletter. We also actively support legislation that seeks humane alternatives to solitary confinement. In addition, we are particularly focused on engaging the health professions' around this issue, as health professionals are often unwitting participants in this inhumane practice
